The President Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA ) recognizes volunteers who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime. How it Works Criteria Individuals, families and groups that meet the criteria are eligible for the PVSA. • Recipient(s) must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident. •Awards are issued for service hours served within a 12-month time period (Bronze, Silver, Gold) or over the course of a lifetime (Lifetime Achievement Award). *Awards are issued for volunteer service only - service must not have been paid through any means (wage, salary, stipend, etc.). • Awards are issued by Joshua’s Hands. • Joshua’s Hands has the discretion to decide which hours can be counted toward an award. (As the awarding organization, JH pays for each award.) - 75% of qualifying hours for individuals must come from work done with Joshua’s Hands (50% for group awards). - 25 % of hours may be performed with other organizations but must be documented and verified through Joshua’s Hands (50% for group awards). - Additional levels of participation with the organization (e.g., charitable support) cannot be a factor for the award. The awards are offered in multiple levels and are designed to recognize each milestone of your service achievement. Levels include Bronze, Silver, Gold and the highest honor, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime. Along with the ultimate honor of presidential recognition, recipients will receive a personalized certificate, an official pin, medallion or coin and a congratulatory letter from the president of the United States.
